Primary and secondary data
Primary:
Data collected by the investigator himself/herself for a specific purpose.
Secondary:
Data collected by someone else for some other purpose and being utilized by the investigator for another purpose.
Qualitative and quantitative data
Qualitative:
Deals with description. Data can be observed but not measured.
{Colors, textures, smells, appearance}
Quantitative:
Deals with number. Data which can be measured.
{Length, weight, area, volume}
Discrete and continuous data
Discrete:
Can be counted. Data that cannot be divided; it is distinct and can only occur in certain values.
Continuous data:
Can be measured. Data that can be divided infinitely, it does not have any value distinction.

Hi Amalina! Primary Data collected by a student for his/her thesis or research project. While Secondary Data is Census data being used to analyze the impact of education on career choice and earning.
